Do I have to call 811 before demolition?
Yes, before anything is dug, pulled or driven. Deck posts, carport footings, fence lines, pier repairs and Lake Murray dock pilings all sit near buried utilities, and hitting a gas or fibre line is the fastest way to end a project badly. SC 811 is free and the notice period is set by state law. Place the ticket a few working days ahead and confirm the current lead time, because it does change.
